In 2007 the Port of Friday Harbor was the 4th marina in the state of Washington to receive a certificate Clean Marina Award. This is accomplished by meeting the requirements to responsibly manage hazardous wastes to prevent pollution, to conduct operations to protect the environment, educate boaters on clean boating practices and demonstrate environmental leadership in the island community. The Port was given a Five Star rating, the highest available. In 2008, the Port was the 1st marina to be recertified at the Five Star rating.

SHORELINE STEWARDSHIP AWARD

The Finney Award presented in 2008 to the Port of Friday Harbor for “Exceptional leadership in demonstrating how a marina can be run with the interests of the boating community served while at the same time keeping a strong environmental ethic.”
